Competition Award

The Bruce Gilchrist Competition Award, a perpetual award recognized on the annual basis, was first presented in 2012.

This perpetual award is for “The King of the Heap,” meaning the horse-and-rider combination who accumulated the most points in NRCHA-approved classes at all eight NWRCHA events during one show season.

This award may be presented to an open, youth or non-pro rider, showing a horse in a bridle, hackamore or two-rein.

Named for NWRCHA Hall of Fame member Bruce Gilchrist, the inaugural Bruce Gilchrist Competition Award was presented in 2012 to Dan Roeser riding Roosters Miss Fritz for owner Rhonda Denning of Wapato, Washington.

In 2012, on average, Dan and “Rubie” scored higher than anyone else at the eight NWRCHA shows – an average of 144.5 points.
